Welcome

Medics' Welfare is an organisation that is run by medical students, for medical students. We aim to provide support and information to medical students from all years, and are happy for you to contact us about any difficulty you might be having. We are not trained counsellors; our task is to provide information, support, and an understanding ear, or to refer you to the professional University welfare and counselling services if that is what seems to be needed.

Of course, we hope that you don't need to use our services, but if you do need to see us, you can be assured of a friendly and discreet service.

The Medics' Welfare team would like to welcome all new medical students. We will be around during your induction period, identifiable by our name badges. Have a look at the team photos if you want to know more about us, and feel free to contact us about any concerns.

September 2008 - Book shopping - please help fund the Medics' Welfare service

If you or your friends or family members use Amazon for books or any other shopping, please consider clicking through from this page of our website. We receive a small commission which we use to help keep the mobile phone service up and running.

August 2008 - Appeals process

For those of you who have unfortunately not passed the qualifying exam, we have put up some information about the appeals process on our FAQ page. This information is also available as a word document to download and print out. You can also contact us via our e-mail address or the Phase 1 mobile.

June 2007 - Equal Opportunities

Did you know - there are University and Faculty committees whose job it is to discuss and try to resolve equal opportunities issues raised by students. If you feel that you have been discriminated against for any reason whilst at medical school, please let us know. We can support you in raising the issue with the relevant committee (or raise it on your behalf if you wish to remain confidential).
